CDS

Bluesky Design has created a new 4820 sq ft office for Computer Design Systems (CDS), in Salford Quays, Manchester.

A contemporary site with a community feel in the professional, well connected business district of Exchange Quay reflects CDS’s holistic approach to this project.  An important consideration was the need maximise utilisation of the area’s footprint and create efficient spaces.

A key element of the design brief was to improve the connectivity between the teams.  An open plan seating area promotes a collaborative environment whilst incorporating zones for quiet working.

Situating the breakout area in the centre of the open plan workspace creates a natural meeting point to encourage further interaction and exchange of ideas, whilst achieving a space that allows staff to relax and socialise.

The Welcome Area separates client facing meeting rooms from the open plan work area which in so doing, achieves public and private zones in the office.

Working with CDS’ brand identity, a clean neutral backdrop is enhanced with accents of red in key areas. Recycled and textured materials were used throughout which creates a subtle contrast to the bleached timber finishes. Industrial style lighting and furniture complements the site’s former industrial, waterside location.  Application of the selective material palette forms a soft, refreshing environment.

The feature timber slatted wall and ceiling combined with suspended halo effect lighting to the Welcome Area creates impact on arrival and sets a professional precedent for CDS staff and clients.

The staff are thrilled with their new workplace and can’t wait to move in.

Client quote

“We’re all really excited to move in… There is nothing better than seeing the realisation of months of hard work and receiving the kind of feedback we have.” Graeme Lee, Managing Director.
